Tizen is a cross-device and cross architecture software platform to develop Linux-based device software platform.Tizen is hosted at The Linux Foundation which will support multiple device types such as smartphones,tablets,smart TVs, netbooks and in-vehicle infotainment devices.
Tizen project hosted in The Linux Foundation and will be governed by a technical steering group composed by Intel and Samsung.The technical group will be primary decision making contact and they will focus on platform development and delivery.And they will be also accountable for forming working groups to support different device verticals.
The Linux Foundation and LiMo (Linux Mobile) Foundation is targeting Tizen’s initial release for Q1 2012.Tizen combines the best open-source technologies from LiMo and The Linux Foundation to create a robust and flexible standards-based HTML5 and WAC (Wholesale Applications Community) web development environment within which device-independent applications can be produced efficiently for unconstrained cross-platform deployment.Tizen APIs will have various capabilities such as messaging,multimedia,camera,network,and social media.Tizen SDK will allow developers to use HTML5 to write applications on top of Tizen platform that run across multiple device verticals.Tizen mainly leverages the robustness and flexibility of HTML5 to make such a development environment for mobile applications and services which is rapidly getting acceptance.
